It is possible to calculate an individual heart disease risk score for people aged between 40 and 75. This screening is now available free at Granton Medical Centre.
You will have an initial appointment with a Health Care Assistant where you will have your blood pressure, height, weight, waist measurement and blood tests taken. These include cholesterol, blood sugar ( to check for diabetes) and kidney function. You will see a GP a week or so later so that your results can be interpreted and help offered to reduce your risk if required.
Many patients have already taken this opportunity to be screened. To book, please call reception and ask for an appointment for a ‘NHS Health Check’ with our health care assistant.
